Question Is it possible to upgrade USB 1.1 ports to USB 3.0 on the case?

Hi there

My PC case has USB 1.1 ports, but my motherboard supports USB 3.0. Is there any way to replace or adapt the front ports of the case to USB 3.0 without having to replace the entire case?

There are plenty of USB3 adapters that go into a drive bay, and link through a cable and header to connect to the motherboard. They are OK. Not going to replace the connectors you have illustrated though. Most of these have two sockets side by side, so I guess not too easily rewired into the two stacked sockets which you picture.

You're right, I think I'll have to give up trying to make use of this USB of mine, and if I need it, I'll buy one of those drive bays.
Yes, I'm meticulous. I don't like leaving things poorly done, and it would be beautiful to keep the old case updated without compromising its originality.

It's probably more than 20 years old.

Does your mobo also support USB1 ? That is plenty fast enough for items such as USB mice, keyboards, etc, so you could keep the original and add a bay mounted USB 3 for handling faster transfers.
