Hey, so I'm about to start building my computer for March break but I am missing a few parts. I was wondering if it would be ok to start building it without some parts. I am missing the CPU, CPU cooler and a copy of Windows 8.
You can, although unless you're using a stock cooler, it is often a lot easier to install the CPU and cooler before you mount the motherboard in the case. Not having the operating system yet needn't stop you from installing hardware.
You can start building it. Obviously it will not run. The most important thing to remember is not to ever turn the system on without a CPU Cooler in place.

The only problem I see, is if a part is bad, how will you know.
If you wait too long, you may not be able to RMA, and will have to go through the warranty.
If you have the parts already then it is a moot point.

Woah thanks for the quick responses. Should I leave out the motherboard and start to putt in the SSD, HDD, PSU and set up the cables. Oh what would be the best way to ground myself? Would constantly touching my stainless steel fridge work?
