Is it safe to change your CPU

Is it safe to change your CPU out for a new one? I currently have a i5-6600 in my MSI H170A PC Mate Motherboard.

It's the only thing I really want to change/upgrade but not sure if its safe to take a processor out of a mobo and put a new one in??!?!/!!?!?!?!

You can replace your existing CPU with a compatible cpu. It is safe. Needs to fit the socket, needs to be supported by motherboard bios.

seeing as im probably going to from an intel to a better intel, itll be fine

No reason to buy an i7-6700k as you can't OC on H170 chipset. Look for i7-6700 or i7-7700 (Upgrade the BIOS first).

I feel as though im not getting the frames on big games that i could be getting with my 1070
