Question Is it safe to turn on the PC after extended travel (around 8 hours) with an AiO installed ?

Hello,

I just bought a used PC with a triple fan AiO CPU cooler. Sending it via mail is not an option for us, since we have a bad trackrecord with delivery companies. So we managed to get a travel safe solution.

However, the seller i got the PC from said that the PC was a pre-build and that it had a sticker on it when he got it delivered that said: "Please let the PC sit upright for at least 48 hours so the liquid of the AiO can settle in the right places".

Now my question is the following:

Is it safe to turn on the PC after i arrive back home after a traveling time of roughly 8 hours?

Not a bad precaution in case any air bubbles are in the pump.

But you can also just hold it upright and shake it around a little to dislodge any bubbles. Best results would be taking the CPU cooler off and doing the same.

But as long as the pump can get primed and started, it will push the bubbles through and they will settle at the highest point.

Since i am not that familiar with AiOs, because i only had air-cooling before that, i would do the 48 hour wait and use my old pc for that time period while the pc sits in my room.

In addition i would like to ask if it is also possible to let the AiO run for a bit to get rid of the air bubbles? I saw some threads talking about other cases with air bubbles and all of them stated that letting the AIO run for a bit should do the trick as well.

Also thank you for replying so fast!

Well, letting it sit may not do much, air bubbles won't necessarily work their way up if there is no outside force.

If you power up the AIO independently, sure, then there is no risk of the CPU overheating.

Still, turning the system on isn't the end of the world. If you hear a bad noise from the pump, turn the system off, and then try turning it back on again. Monitor temperatures. If the CPU temperature isn't rapidly climbing in the BIOS, you should be good to go.

Alright that cleared things up for me, i apreciate your info.

I have one more question i do have tho: How exactly can you power on the aio by itself if i may ask?

"Is it safe..."

One wonders how these systems with an AIO get transported halfway across the planet.

Truck, forklift, ship, blah blah blah....

And you're worried about a few hours in the car?
We ar going by train not car, also i stated that i am not that experienced with AiO and Watercooling which is why i am asking
