Question Is it safe to use a separate PSU for the GPU?

My GPU is a 560 ti. It requires 2 6-pin connectors for power - which my current psu doesnt have

The PC parts for the build I will be using this GPU in are still on its way.... so I have no way of testing this GPU if it works

Can I use a separate PSU, which has the 2 the 6-pin connectors to power my gpu.. and connect it on my old PC? to see if it works? Will it cause problems?

Be patient for the new PSU to arrive.
