Is it worth getting a case for an optical drive slot?

Do people even use optical drives? is it worth buying one? I want to know if i should invest money into a case that has an optical drive slot or just go for one without. I'm not sure if i'm being old fashioned but are cd's used for anything?

You can always get a USB DVD drive if you wish.

I have a case with three empty optical drive slots, I never needed an optical drive, and even if I did, I do have an external USB DVD player, so I would say it is not a breaking point by a longshot
