Is it worth getting the 280x? And any thoughts on my build?

So I want to build a gaming pc but I cant choose a gpu so I was thinking of buying an r9 280x but read some reviews saying that its not worth the money and doesnt make any difference. Is that true?

And any thoughts on my currently planned build?

i5-4690
h97 pro4 micro atx
1x8gb ram stick (will be upgrading to 16 sometime this year)
500w psu
spec-01 case
r9 280x
1tb hdd or 120gb ssd (havent decided yet)

BTW the bidget is 700 $

yeah risky, i would reccomand a scythe mugen 4, cheap price and is much better than the standar cooler

why is it risky? I mean whats wrong with the stock one it's designed for that cpu...

they don't put money in it, it's just a standard, worth to buy one

Stock cooler will work fine with you're locked cpu. It can be noisy compare to aftermarket but should work fine.

according to bencmarks its 5 to 8 fps difference. The lowest r9 280 is

if you think its worth 8fps for $40 , if not then settle with 280
