Is it worth upgrading?

My computer runs on a fx-8120 and an AMD 6870 with 8 b of RAM, and a tb 7200 RPM HD. My question is whether it is worth upgrading to an AMD 6950? Im thinking about upgrading my graphics card but Im not sure what to get. Im was looking at the 6950 and wondering if I should snag it up. I dont even know if I should upgrade. My budget for the new graphics card is around $300 but I can stretch to $350 if I really need to. Also, Is installing a new graphics card hard? Please let me know.

i don't think it is worth upgrading to a 6950.

it is not hard to upgrade graphic cards, the process can take about 1-3 minutes.

if your video card budget is 300 then i would suggest something like a 7950, it has more overclocking headroom and is a good deal stronger than the 6950.

The 6950 isn't much faster than the 6870, only approximately 10%, not worth the money for the upgrade.

Now if you are actually talking about the 7950, which is currently priced at around $300, that is a considerable performance jump over the 6870. It would be a worthwhile upgrade if you are playing very graphically demanding games at 1080p resolution or higher. If you aren't happy with your current gaming performance, then upgrade, if you are still happy with what you have now, you can hold off and wait for newer cards to launch next year.

I agree with Dane. A 6950 would not be worthwile. But if you are looking at spending $300-$350 then a 660TI/670 or 7870/7950 would be in play and would be worthwhile upgrades.

Edit - D'oh, they beat me too it. But yea, waiting til' next year may not be to bad as long as your current card is performing satisfactory.

just get another 6870 for cheap and crossfire them. thats what the idea of crossfire is all about. you buy a graphics card and when you feel its no longer cutting it you buy another card same model for cheap and crossfire them saving yourself a lot of money and nearly double your performance
