Bit of a tricky one here but am hoping I can get some advice.

I installed a windows 11 update yesterday and now I am unable to get my taskbar/start button back. To make matters worse, because there is something going on with my display (when my laptop starts up it's only in a black screen) I am unable to get into safe mode/recovery mode or anything like that as the screen just goes black.

When my desktop appears it has all my program icons on the left but no taskbar or start button. I have to go into task manager and run a new task "explorer.exe" just to see my files. The windows shortcuts aren't working (windows button plus a command). I am able to run a new task to bring up the control panel but even that is limited to what I can do (I managed a system restore but that didn't fix the taskbar issue). I can't even access my laptop settings. I can't download any tool to assist, nothing shows up as being downloaded or even in the process of downloading.

I did manage to run an SFC and DISM scan, that didn't fix the issue. Also at the moment Microsoft Edge is the only browser that will open.

At this point I am not hopeful for a solution and am considering reinstalling windows but again, I have no idea how to get into doing this.

It feels like there is just so much wrong that I don't know that it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

You could try and perform a system restore on the OS prior to when the update and the issue cropped up but I see you reinstalling the OS after you've recreated the bootable USB installer for Windows 11. The issue is with your drivers/OS, more likely.

Asus make a lot of hardware, I'm curious to know what Asus product you were referring to from the get go...?

I have the TUF Gaming A15 R7-6800H/16gb/512GB SSD/RTX3060 laptop.

Yes I did try to download/create a windows 11 recovery but am unable to download anything at all. I will see if I can update my drivers
