Is my CPU temperature to high?

Hello,
I have an I5 (lynnfield) LGA 1156 CPU. I am using core temperature to monitor the temp. When I browse the internet or am idling, the temp goes up to the low 70's. I have not monitored it under load. Is this normal?

I will add that it is about due to replace the thermal paste.

70F or 70C? If it's 70C, it's definitely way too hot...and yes, I would think that it's about due of a TIM replacement as well :lol: I would do that ASAP.

70 at mid loads is quite warm even for stock(that is more of a load temp).

Check to ensure the heatsink is mounted right and the right amount of thermal paste was used.

Consider aftermarket cooling if you are up for it. Those chips run very cool under even moderate aftermarket cooling

When was the last time you replaced the thermal grease and cleaned the dust off? This may help a lot. 70C is extremely high for light loads
