I've been having issues with my old system. The PC crashes everytime I play a game. I've tried the following games and all result in the same. The screen goes blurry, I believe people call it artefacting. Afterwards it crashes, sometimes I can use CLT ALT DEL to restart the system sometimes It goes completely black and reboots. It looks like I've nailed it down to just the PSU and GPU. If I underclock the GPU using asus software by setting the Power Target to 70% from 100% it seems to work. I was able to play a good 2 hours of GTA 4 and no signs of crashing. How can I determine whether it is a PSU issue or GPU? Both components are approx 4-5 years old.

Games:
GTA4
Half Life Alyx
Ready or Not
Just Cause 3
Just Cause 4
Stranglehold - no above mentioned issues

Specs:

i7 10700KF
MSI Z490 Gaming Edge
Corsair H100i V2
16gb DDR4
Samsung 1TB 960 Pro

ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti
EVGA G2 850W

the cheapest would be to swap the psu and test again on full load and if it still does then its gpu, i am not sure you have access to another similar psu but its the best way for your case, hope that helps.
