Hi,

So A few days ago I ordered the GTX 1070 Founders Edition the moment it was released. It arrived today, so I went ahead and swapped out my gtx 970 for the new 1070. I decided I would start by testing a few of my games with my new GPU.

I first tested Rise of the Tomb Raider. I was only getting around 39-44 fps on MAX settings. I didn't believe it. So I decided to turn the settings down to high, where I found I was only getting around 50fps max. I was watching a few benchmark videos online, and this guy was playing on max settings with a 1070 and getting around 150fps. I've also tested other games and they seem to be performing worse than when I was using my 970.

PC SPECS:
Intel i5-6500 3.2gHz
GTX 1070 FE
16GB DDR4-2133 RAM
Monitor: 1080p 60Hz

Any advice?
Cheers

STEP.-

POST sped fan capture of main page and to see real fan speed and temps with speedfan readings, for me sonds like artifact of your gpu.

IGNORE THIS !!!

Please do not try to help if you have no idea how to, none of that would help unless he screwed up his windows by changing a graphics card.... and speedfan?....... God Damn

or AIDA 64 ENGINEER EDITION, or where ever speed cooler edition.

because i can solve that in 30 minutes formating reinstaling, whit no messing around wiping clenaing shit of systems.

Main idea for getting a new GPU is not formatting the SO, that doesn't make any sense. a clean DDU should be fine, but, if you think in formatting the SO, i would jump to W10.

Its only my opinion!

Sigh...:ange:

win 10 is dx 12, gtx 1070 is dx 12... format to win 10 is what im trying to say.

Cheers! This seemed to do the trick. I still had the 970 drivers aswell as my 1070 ones. They were probably clashing or something. So I wiped and installed the latest :) I seem to get around 70+ fps on max settings in tomb raider now.

Thanks bud!

What OS, ? Win 10 has cause such a problem on many, many systems. never, ever let Windows install Hardware Drivers.

1. Stop Windows from installing their drivers instead of NVidia drivers.

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/82054-turn-off-windows-7-automatic-driver-installation.html

2. Reboot and uninstall all things NVidia from Control Panel Add / remove programs

3. Use a registry cleaner like ccleaner to scan your registry. Do this in small chunks by clicking only the 1st box on the left panel (Missing / Shared DLLs) and Scan for Issues. Search the right panel for any sign of "nVidia" and check the box for that line. Once you have completed the list, Fix Selected Issues, and yes, when prompted make a backup.

4. Rinse and repeat for all other boxes, 1 at a time, in the left hand panel. You could use an automated driver tool but drivers come out so frequently, that they may not be up to date.

5. Download / install the latest NVidia driver from the web site.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

6, Download / Install GeForce Experience and have it determine the recommended settings for all your games. Compare your settings versus recommended for the game in question and decide if you want to make any changes.

That while wipe the HD, reinstall OS thing is a waste of time and effort.

EDIT: If you have "fixed" things as in your last post, make sure to do step 1 above so that you do not have to do this over and over, every time Windows Update screws things up.

The program I used (DDU) said that that it has disabled windows automatically updating the drivers. I think I'm fine now. Thanks for the help :)
