Is my HDD causing lag??

Hi guys, I'm having abit of trouble with Lag in most games and I was wondering whether my HDD could be the problem...

Specs:
CPU: Amd 8350 With Hyper 212 evo cooler
GPU: Gigabyte G1 gaming 980ti
RAM: 8GB Adata Ram and 8GB Hyper x. 16GB overall
PSU: 750 watt power supply

I don't see any reason why these specs should be causing lag in games...

Also, when I get lag, it's mostly in well populated area's and the Disk Light (in my case) Flashes....

UPDATE:
Tried defragging my C: drive and Didn't improve my lag.... Any other suggestions or should I replace HDD (It seems to make some weird noises sometimes)

Sometimes yes. In your case you may need to defrag. Sounds like it is loading some textures when a new person shows up (if in an MMO). Other than that your CPU is a huge bottleneck for that 980ti though, doesn't really matter as long as it is playable for you.

Thanks for the quick answer! I'll try that and see if it fixes anything... May try and get a new cpu soon....

Yes, poor drive performance could cause lag.

You should really back up the data stored on the drive as it makes some noises and there is a chance that it is failing.

After that, you can just test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
Look for pending/reallocated/uncorrectable sectors.

I Bought a new HDD just to eliminate that as a problem, So it looks like It is not the HDD causing the problem...

Are you using an ethernet cable, usb, or pci for internet?

Also are you at 100% gpu usage?
