Is my motherboard broken?

Yesterday I was building my first ever PC. What makes me think I broke my motherboard is that my PSU didn't come with a 6 pin to plug into my GPU! So, being such an idiot, I put the 12V into it instead. I powered it on and it caused it to start smoking... I thought my GPU was broken as nothing was being displayed on the monitor so I took it to my other PC, plugged it in and it gave me the message to plug in the PCIE cord (6 pin) for it to work, so that meant that my graphics card wasn't broken. I then went back to the other PC and plugged an HDMI straight into the motherboard and then to the monitor, and nothing displays. Does this mean my mother board is broken?

I had an unreliable PSU, 550W that didn't come with a PCIE slot for my GPU.
