Is my motherboard FM2+ or FM2 only?

Hi.
I'm trying to figure out if my motherboard will be compatible with the new FM2+ Steamroller core (Kaveri I believe it's called). I'm possibly thinking of upgrading to a Steamroller based Athlon X4 in the future, but can't quite tell if my motherboard is compatible. Some places list it as FM2/FM2+, but others list only FM2!
Anyway, it's a MSI FM2-A55M-E33(MS-7721) motherboard.

Thanks in advance.

Always check the CPU Support List for your motherboard. If the CPU you want is on this list, then it's supported (though maybe through a BIOS update). If it's not on the list, then it's not supported and likely will not work.

CPU sockets can go through a number of CPU generations. This does not mean that a CPU of the same socket as the motherboard is going to be compatible. You always need to check the CPU Support List for your motherboard.

Hi.
I already have checked, but as the Kaveri Steamroller core is not released until Jan next year, that's not likely to be listed lol. Also, the new Kaveri core will only work in the FM2+ socket. not FM2. That's why I'm trying to figure out which mine is.

It would appear you are half correct, that this board only supports FM2. Although there is a A55M-E33 that supports FM2+ too. It's weird that several sites list my mobo as FM2+ compatible though.

MSI made your motherboard. You can go by what other sites say or you can go by what MSI says. It may be that MSI just hasn't updated their site since the processor hasn't been released yet, but if I'm spending money, I'd want to know for sure before one dime passed my hand. If I don't know for sure, I'm not buying it.
