I built this computer from scratch a few years ago. It is running Win 7. (I have a Win 11 Computer, but like Win 7 better) Don’t know why I installed a 120GB SSD drive for the “C” drive, but I did. Should have gone larger. It has had 11GB of free space for a very long time. It will dip down to around 9GB of free space, but go back to 11GB free space after I do a backup. Just last week after doing a backup I saw that the free space is now 3.61GB.

I have not installed anything on this computer in the last year.

Crystal Disk Info says the drive is good at 79%. It’s been 80% for the last year. What would cause this drive to suddenly loose so much free space?

Consider spending a bit more for a Samsung ssd replacement.
The samsung ssd C drive mover is the easiest and most fool proof ever.
It is not a clone app which is a bit for bit copy, but it is a windows C drive mover.
The app and instructions are found here:

As USAFRET described above, install the new Samsung ssd.
Run the migrate app which will find the new device and copy windows to it.
Be patient, I might expect to take an hour or more.
When done, remove the old C drive and boot.
Later, you can clean out the old C drive for whatever you might want to do.

I have done this countless times without fail.
If I do clone my “C” drive, it will be with Samsung SSD’s. The current “C” drive is a Samsung and the new drive will be Samsung. I built this computer in 2013 and it still works just fine and the SSD still trucks right along. USAFRet has given me a lot of good advice and cloning programs that he likes. I’ll be doing a lot of research on Cloning software and narrow it down to one. Not 100% sure I will attempt to clone this drive, but I like Win 7 a lot more than Win 11. Every time I turn my Win 11 on, it just frustrates the heck out of me. I’ve had it for two years, and still don’t like it, but I need it for todays software from time to time.

If a Samsung is the target drive, use the cloning service that is in Samsung Magician.

If the target drive is other, use Macrium Reflect.

I've used both.
Done right, zero issues.

I’ve only used Samsung SSD’s and will continue to use them. Sounds like Samsung Magician might be the best cloning software for my use. Is that something that comes with the Samsung SSD’s or something to be downloaded from their site? I just put an external Samsung SSD 1TB drive on this computer, and I don’t see that software.

If you have never cleaned your temp folders I bet you have a big chunk of drive space you can get back.

Go to start right click and in your RUN box type %temp% there is nothing in there you need. There is a few files
that won't throw away and if you have a browser opened that's why there unable to throw away there actually in use.

Also back to the RUN box and type "temp" and there is another place you can clean out.
