Hey fellas.

So I bought a GeForce 1660 ti from Best Buy a couple weeks ago to replace an older damaged GPU. They card wouldn’t fit into the small case, so long story short I decided to build a new computer. Few days ago I managed to set everything up and everything was working fine these past few days. However, while I was at work, my brother was using my computer and said the computer randomly shut down and he couldn’t get it to start back up. When I got home I tried it and noticed the computer would turn on but the monitor was not getting signal. I replaced the 1660 ti with a old GTX 550 ti and it booted fine. I know this seems like it would obviously point to a bad graphics card, but could it be something else such as update I didn’t install?

Here are some points worth mentioning.
  • Computer turns off instantly when I press the power button.
  • On the EZ DEBUG LED on the motherboard, the only light which stays on is the VGA.
  • All the components are brand new.
  • Graphics card was only used for a couple says.
  • I used the same power connector for bother video cards, besides the older one which didn’t need the extra 2 pins.
My other components are...
B450 Tomahawk motherboard
Corsair CX650m power supply
Ryzen 7 2700 processor
16gb (2x8) Corsair 3200 DDR4 ram

Any advice would be appreciated. Would be a shame if it was indeed the 1660ti because it is brand new and Best Buy has a 2 week refund policy and it’s been 18 days, so not sure if I’d be able to get a refund.

Does not sound good for the new GPU. Does the fan spin when you power on?

As the OLD one works fine and your happy you have the right power cable going into the new one, then looks like the GPU.

Just double check the BIOS to make sure the GPU is set to the PCIE setting.

The GPU fans do spin when I have the computer running. I cannot get to the BIOS with the new GPU because the monitor stays black.
