Hello,
i have foxconn G31MX-K 2.0 motherboard, my processor is core2duo E7400 2.80Ghz processor, is my pc 64bit capable, i cant install server 2008 64bit (even inside vmware)it says hardware not supported, please give me some idea, thanking you

It seems that your motherboard is only capable of handling 4GB max memory. That would put severe limitations on it handling a 64OS (if it could install one). I've just looked at the foxconn G31MX-K specs and manual and there's no mention of it supporting 64 bit OS's.

You may have to stick with a x86 OS until you get a motherboard that is x64 compatable.

Did you try a new install or a secondary install with some other OS already installed.? I guess your hardware is perfectly capable of handling a 64 bit OS.. As for Win Server 08, the installer may be screwing it up.. I got the same problem like you've stated while trying to install the sever 08 64 bit OS.. My PC hardware config is a Gigabyte P45-UD3R motherboard, Intel C2D E6750 and 4GB RAM.. The graphic card is an ATI Radeon HD 4870..

thanks goes to everyone for giving me some idea, actually i wanted to install server 2008 64bit inside vmware, because i dont want mess up my system if something goes wrong. i search my pcs bios setup and found "HPET MODE" it currently set as 32bit, it also supports 64bit mode, i searched goggle and found if i want to use 64bit os then recommended option for HPET 64bit mode. (see this) is it true, will this cause the problem? thanks kind people.
