Question Is my ryzen 7 7700x running too hot?

My CPU runs at about 65-67C while idle and can spike up to 85-90C while gaming. I understand that it is under the maximum temperature for the CPU but should it actually be running this hot. I've heard that this might be normal but wanted to make sure. Is this normal?
System specs:
Ryzen 7 7700x
Peerless assasin 120 se
Amd 7900XT

Hey there,

Yes, it's running warm. Idle temps should be in the 40-45c range, maybe slightly higher or lower depending on the cooler.
Top line temps are fine, but for a heavy load. Gaming I would think about the 70-80c mark, but again higher or lower depending on which exact game.

Maybe check the thermal paste application and reseat cooler.

Make sure there is plenty of thermal paste evenly coating the IHS and the cooler contact plate. Make sure you are torquing down the mounting screws for the cooler properly.
