My CPU runs at about 65-67C while idle and can spike up to 85-90C while gaming. I understand that it is under the maximum temperature for the CPU but should it actually be running this hot. I've heard that this might be normal but wanted to make sure. Is this normal?
System specs:
Ryzen 7 7700x
Peerless assasin 120 se
Amd 7900XT
B650 Eagle AX

Hey there,

Yes, it's running warm. Idle temps should be in the 40-45c range, maybe slightly higher or lower depending on the cooler.
Top line temps are fine, but for a heavy load. Gaming I would think about the 70-80c mark, but again higher or lower depending on which exact game.

Maybe check the thermal paste application and reseat cooler.

I have realized I didn't properly measure the temperature. Now when I measured it correctly it is 45C when idle and 35C when in BIOS. I assume this is a good temperature. As for the spikes in games I will have to measure them again because I didn't measure them in game but immediately after I had exited out of them. I will probably measure it again shortly. But thank you for responding to my question.

Sounds better alright! :) Good stuff.
