Sure, Core 2 is currently faster than Athlon X2, but if AMD goes under, who is to compete with Intel? What incentive will Intel have to keep pumping out faster chips at a lower price? I don't want to see Netburst happen again.
🙁
So I'm hoping Phenom will blow Core 2's socks off.
Well, here we have another thread discussing AMD vs Intel.
And of course, there are replies made from individuals who do not understand how the business works.
AMD chooses not to design a faster chip then Intel's offering for a good reason.
A faster chip means it will be more expensive. A more expensive chip will not sell in the market place as much as an inexpensive offering.
When comparing the Core i7 with the Phenom II, it is clear. The Phenom II saves the customer money.
There is still an $800 difference between the two chips. (check tigerdirect)
And the Phenom II overclocks to 6Ghz for less money.
AMD aims to out sell Intel. They did it before.

Then Tyranny set in and an antitrust suit was filed........

And, if you check most recent news articles concerning the antitrust suit, you will quickly learn AMD has the upper-hand in the matter.
Intel is actually trying to stall the suit. Because they know what the outcome will be.
Intel fanbois need not reply........
