Is nobody at least rooting for AMD?

LOL as a matter of fact I do have an 8086 (Laser Turbo XT) running 10 10 Mhz It's got a 30 Meg hard drive, 5.25" floppy, 1.6 Megs of RAM, and the best part of it a 2 meg VGA card capable of displaying 256 colors onscreen at once in 320 x 200!!!! That baby sure was the ****...... 20 years ago!!

i haven't bought a stock system in a number of years. so i consistantly try and keep up with the tech pages. that said more times then not i end up building amd machines. now i would be careful not to call myself a fan boy. i love math, and numbers are numbers and lets face it. AMD got its butt handed to them with the release of the core duo and they been busy trying to play catch up just like intel had to with the intial release of the 64's. it was great for PC tech advancement on both fronts. so i am always routing for amd, but i root for intel too. lets face facts either your spending bank on bleeding edge, or your spending what you have and getting the most bang for your buck. even if the amd phenoms come out at a defict...amd will have a quad core part and with some fine tuning it may get on par with intel, surpass or maybe be sub par. until i see a machine running in the wild, i won't just guess. regardless the compation is good for all of us and i don't think any reasonible enthusist would want any thing less then the tech "arms" race we have going on right now.

Yes, I have had a AMD 6000+ x2 for about 12months now and i have had no problems yet with my work computers that are intel i have had countless problems with motherboards(gigabyte) and CPU's (intel).
Allthough i will be upgrading soon to the AMD Bulldozer once it is released, I know that it will not be as fast as intels Skulltrail but i bet it will be alot cheaper. in last august i entered a competition for the best PC Builds in Australia & NZ, and i got a great resault with my dual core.

AMD Rocks, & as long as AMD are competitive with intel i will stick by them.

I gave up trying to point out how useless it is digging up dead & buried threads. Turpit used to lock these but I haven't seen him in a couple months now.

Interesting, however, that Amdfangirl used to be such a, well, AMD fan girl! :). Now that she has matured more, she's probably secretly pro-Intel! 😗

Guess that says a lot for Engima's maturity level :sol:

LOL - shouldn't that be "I'm thinking"?? :)

On second thought, drinking is preferable to thinking, when it comes to Enny...

We should have a Full Moon in about a week, almost time for another Thunderpants post, and YewTewb videos from Enny.

i think this happens due to the right hand column. if the user has it displayed, it lists topics that are similar to the one your looking at but does not discriminate on age lol

Well, here we have another thread discussing AMD vs Intel.

And of course, there are replies made from individuals who do not understand how the business works.

AMD chooses not to design a faster chip then Intel's offering for a good reason.

A faster chip means it will be more expensive. A more expensive chip will not sell in the market place as much as an inexpensive offering.

When comparing the Core i7 with the Phenom II, it is clear. The Phenom II saves the customer money.
There is still an $800 difference between the two chips. (check tigerdirect)
And the Phenom II overclocks to 6Ghz for less money.

AMD aims to out sell Intel. They did it before.

Then Tyranny set in and an antitrust suit was filed........
http://news.cnet.com/AMD-files-antitrust-suit-against-Intel/2100-1001_3-5765844.html

And, if you check most recent news articles concerning the antitrust suit, you will quickly learn AMD has the upper-hand in the matter.

Intel is actually trying to stall the suit. Because they know what the outcome will be.

Intel fanbois need not reply........

LOL! Well we all knew that Enny would crawl out of the woodwork once it got dark outside... However it's a week before the Full Moon - at least he didn't post his Ewe-Tewb videos - Baaaaaa :).

That must be it..AMD does not want the faster CPU. This must mean that the Athlon 64 x2 was a fluke they had to shrug off, hence the Phenom. Now it all makes sense. Thanks Enigma!

What I meant was that I didn't want you to make me laugh because I would end up with my drink coming out my nose 😉

Nope, $70.
