Howdy all. I'll keep it short and sweet. Don't have the tech skills anymore to build my own unit and prefer to purchase pre-built. Have a 34" 120hz 1440p monitor I want to push latest game titles with. Just purchased the MSI Aegis RS 10TF-214US gaming desktop for $3,500. Specs listed below. Have an MSI laptop that I have had great experience with. Is this decent for the price of a pre-built, or is there a better alternative out there? I looked at the Corsairs but hated that they all only had 1 TB drives in them and the Corsair One seemed extremely difficult to upgrade. Seeing as I just ordered this tonight, would appreciate any insight/recommendations so I can cancel the order if needed before it ships. I found it through this articles recommendation but upgraded it (https://www.tomshardware.com/best-picks/best-gaming-pcs).

Specs:
  • Intel Core™ i7-10700K 8 Cores 3.8-5.1 GHz 16M Cache
  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X
  • 32GB DDR4 3000Mhz (16GB x 2)
  • 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
  • 2TB 3.5" 7200 RPM HDD
  • Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2x2 802.11ax (2.4Gbps)
  • MSI’s LED Button - Customize your desktop with 60 lighting effects.
  • Latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for redefined wireless gaming experience
  • Easy to upgrade with standard MSI components and case
  • MSI Z490 Motherboard - A durable high-performance motherboard made for gaming.
  • 120mm Dragon CPU Liquid Cooler for optimizing heat dissipation
Thank you kindly!

I would have run that build like this with the power limits turned off in the bios.

My only two nit picks would be getting a 10850k cpu and 3200mhz memory. If you get the 10850k cpu please note you will need a larger cooler.

Thank you kindly for the feedback! It seems my only two other options outside the 10700k are the i7-11700k or i9-11900k. Stick with the 10700k and upgrade later down the road, or change?

I can't customize the build, and the RAM would be an easy swap I do know how to do :)

You may want to price out the parts listed on your build at pcparpicker.com to see where you would be if you bought the parts on your own. Of course you would have to factor in the building cost. The parts listed would allow you to play all aaa games now.

The difference between 3200Mhz and 3600Mhz for Intel 10th & 11th gen cpu's in regards to FPS is slim to none. Ryzen cpu's are another matter .. they're memory dependant hence the reason 3600Mhz is recommended for them. btw what is the total cost of that build you posted up above?

Thank you both for the information. Seems like overall building it myself vs purchasing from them is in the same ballpark, which I am fine to pay for the build labor.

I will also look to upgrade the RAM to 32 or 64gb 3200mhz from Corsair. Is there any reason or need to go faster than that?

We all run our machines different.
I would think about a 11700k and a 500GB ssd for the OS and apps.
2TB ssd for games and 3200 ram.
