Is pressing the power button off on a surge protector the same as unplugging it?

I have my PC, TV and other electronics plugged into my surge protector. I've read that you should unplug it from the wall during a storm. I'm wondering if pressing the surge protector power switch off provides the same protection from lighting as unplugging it from the wall. The protector plug is pretty tight, so it's kind of a pain to remove it from the outlet, but if it's necessary I'll do it.

No it is not the same thing and during a storm you should unplug it

If lightning were to strike your house that power strip would likely get fried and fry everything attached to it unless it’s a really really good fast blowing surge suppressor like TrippLite makes. Even then. Lightning can destroy anything

Thank you, I'll keep unplugging it then. I also unplug my Ethernet cable from the wall. Do you know if the cable coaxial cord should also be unplugged from the wall?

It wouldn’t be a bad idea in a lightning storm Where strikes are happening close to your home

Remember electricity is going to take the least resistive path to ground so I wouldn’t leave it up to chance, else something might get fried. I mean it’s not very likely to happen I don’t think but do you wanna take the chance?
