Doing a new build and done with all purchases less the GPU. Was about to get the RTX 2060 but seeing a lot of comments and reviews saying it is a bad cash grab and not worth it. I currently own a GTX 760 and do need the upgrade.

The recommendations seems to be to go for GTX 1660 ti but thats like just £50 cheaper. I don't mind saving £50 of course but is it worth it? I don't want to get something trying to save 50 quid only for it to get obselete very fast. I want this GPU to last at least 3 yrs. I am someone who likes to keep to medium settings on any AAA titles, not fussed up about going for ultra settings and I play on 1080p.

Thought of 1060 6GB but even today, it is a recommended spec on many games thus I don't see it lasting for 3yrs. (Correct me if wrong).

Also had a look at some AMD cards. RX590 seems like a good buy, almost half the price of RTX 2060 but again the question of how much it would last. Another one was RX 5700 where the price was identical to RTX 2060.

Should I go for RTX 2060 or save about £50 and get 1660ti which would last 3yrs or more without needing an upgrade. Or would any of the others make sense like RX590 or RX5700? Please advice. Thanks.

Solution
The 2060 performs better than the 1660ti and is worth the extra money.

THe issue is that the RX5700 exists. The RX5700 performs around an RTX2070, yet costs the same as a 2060.

Go for the RX5700 assuming you have a good PSU.

I took your earlier advice and placed an order for this PSU. Assuming this would be support RX 5700?

Plus just wondering, why would a PSU matter in this case? Assuming no issue if I had gone for a RTX 2060 but it affects an RX5700 for some reason?

For the RX5700, would this be a good one?

Trying to find a similar one on Amazon but it seems to cost almost extra £100!

The RX5700 performs better than the 2060, but also draws more power.
550w is cutting it close as the 5700 really should have at least 600w, but since the TXM is a very reliable and well built PSU, it should be ok. What other components do you have in your system?

The Mech OC is a good card.

Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Motherboard ATX
RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB
SSD: Crucial CT1000P1SSD8 P1 1 TB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Heatsink: ARCTIC Freezer 12
Network Card: TP Link TL WDN4800
Casing: Corsair Carbide 175R RGB ATX Mid Tower Case
An older mechanical keyboard and a G600 Corsair mouse.
Guessing the monitor is irrelevant for PSU.

Based on PCParkPicker with RX5700 I pull 394Watts with this build not sure how reliable that figure is.

Have an RTX 2060(non-super) in my Ryzen build, and very happy with it. Still a great choice for 1080P overkill, and should perform well for years to come. That said, RX 5700 should perform just as well, better in some cases when game is optimized, just higher power draw, and no Ray-tracing capability. Both great choices IMO.
