In short, yes it is. But the RAM has no relation with the GPU, so the question is basically invalid.

SO i should only look for the mother board and cpu that are compitable ?

Most motherboard can accommodate most cards and it is more of a non factor. But the cpu matters. You should have a decent cpu to compliment the card. But the 580(4gb) compliments most recent cpus well and should not be a problem. If you go with some of the previous generations, you might need to check the bottleneck factor.

The type of memory used by the GPU (video card) and the motherboard are completely separate and distinct from one another. One has nothing to do with the other.
