Hello, i am pairing a Ryzen 5 2600 with a GTX 1660 Ti Oc edition. I will be gaming on it for a couple of months than i will switch over to a ryzen 3800x. What games can i expect to run on 2600 at 1080p?

Solution
Wow really? If it actually perfoms well i might not even upgrade my cpu until i see a decent price on 3800x
Dont get a new cpu without having a reason to get it.If thr 2600 cant do what you want, then you should consider upgrading. With that configurafion im pretty sure u can hit 60fps with medium high setting in every game.

I agree with Djoza.
I have a 2600 / 1660 Ti rig as my now secondary PC and I played AAA games on it at 1080/60Hz with Mediums settings and it worked very well for me.

So, try out the 2600 / 1660 Ti combo and see how it performs on the games you play.

I did however later build a new 3700x / 3060 Super rig and it plays those same AA games at Ultra settings.

And Just FYI,
I upgraded because I do quite a bit of video encoding and the 3700x is MUCH better for that purpose But not as huge a difference for gaming.
And if you ever do look to upgrade, the 3700x is a better buy in most cases than the 3800x is.

Than i should consider upgrading my gpu later on? Like an rtx ? I just want to game on 1080p on high settings. I do not need a 4k or 1440p experience. I only game once in a while..

Like I said above.
Play the games that you like to play and see what settings in the game work best for you.
I was very happy with Medium settings in most games with the 2600/1660 Ti.
But I am even happier with the 3700x / RTX 2060 Super at Ultra settings.
But I only play offline single player RPG/Action and Offline FPS games.
And like you, I do Not feel a need to upgrade from 1080 to 1440.
Eventually I might go with a 1440p monitor but probably not for at least a year or two.

And I have had people tell me I am crazy to stay at 1080 But they aren't me.
No one can say what works best for you, except you. :D
