Hi there recently i've been thinking of upgrading my Acer 6935G's Hard Drive. At the minute from what I have checked I have a Seagate Momentus 5400rpm 250GB 2.5" HDD. Online I have found a 2.5" Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200.4rpm HDD Which i am going to buy, one thing that puts me off is that it says it's "Sata-300" which I have never come across before. Will this hdd be compatible to replace my current drive?

Cheers,
Lone

BTW here are the specs and link to the HDD Specs:

Laptop: Acer Aspire 6935G

"SATA-300" is a poor slang, VERY likely meaning SATA II. The proper term is SATA 3 Gb/s. A lot of people convert Gb (Gigabits) to GB (Gigabytes) by simply dividing by 10 - a reasonable approximation. 3 Gb = 3,000 Mb = 300 MB. and that's where the "300" comes from.

There is no such thing as SATA II, or SATA 1 or SATA 3.

Those are Sales talk.

There is only SATA, and then you got the quality(speeds) Where you got 150, 300 and 600.
where;

SATA 150 = 1,5 Gb/s
SATA 300 = 3,0 Gb/s
SATA 600 = 6,0 Gb/s

But the therms are so often missused it has allmost become the norm.

Check out this video from Linus Tech Tips that tells the whole story.
