Hi there!
As this is going to be a huge purchase for me I wanted to get lots of advice which many have already given me great advice in full builds.

My question on the CPU thread is just to see what people think about Intel Vs AMD in terms of my usage exactly.

Programs:
Maya/Vray (CPU Heavy rendering tasks)
Unreal Engine/Pathtracer (GPU Heavy)
Houdini (CPU and GPU heavy)
Photoshop Retouching (Ram/CPU/GPU)

or

or

Is the threadripper worth it for my single use case? Or is it overkill for my build and better to spend the money on the 5000 GPU?

Plan is to get a 4070 GPU and then when the 5000 series is just upgrade or add it in at that stage.

(I would be grateful for general build improvements if you have any as well)

Thanks so much!

Edit:
Helper800 user showed me that the AMD 9950X seems to be tested to be best used with vray so looks like my go to at the moment.

9950X build looks alright to me.

Getting 32 Zen cores of course would make certain CPU rendering tasks quite a bit faster, but the platform cost is up there. Just depends on how much more quickly you can render and what that means to you in terms of time/profit.

For really big jobs, you could consider renting render time from a cloud provider.

Personally would go AM5 with the 9950X because it allows you to get a 4090 (which personally if you can I’d wait until 50 series launches) to get a significant improvement of GPU grunt along with doubling your VRAM

Yeah plan is to get a 4060 or something for now until the 5000 releases then upgrade. 👌
