Is the 260gtx a good graphics card

hi could you tell me if the 260gtx is a good graphics card and if its worth setting up sli with another 260gtx or will one be enough to play games like cod 4, waw and crysis

and will it be ok on a 40" lcd hdtv
or do you suggest getting a monitor

i have just ordered a new pc
amd 955 phenom II
asus M3N72-D with 750a sli chipset
1tb hard drive
8gb ddr2 kingston ram
geforce gtx 260
is this a good p.c.?

this will be my first desktop i have bought, i normally play games on xbox 360 and ps3

i would appreciate your views thank you

assuming your power supply has enough juice to support it then yes you will get a decent boost out of a second GTX260, but try it with one for a while, if you cant turn the settings up as high as you would like or if you want higher FPS then get a second one for SLI.

1) If you are going to get (2) 260's right off the bat, you may as well get the new 5870 card. Then in which case I would get a mobo that supports crossfire, not SLI. Just a thought. (2) 260's cost about the same as a single 5870.

2) 750W will be plenty for (2) cards.

3) I'd look at the 790 AM3 boards.

HAHAHA "Is the GTX 260" a good graphics card. Are you having a laugh because you obviously know it is? For the price you have to pay for it, it is going to be conciderably good especially since it is in the top end. Or do you mean the build quality and it's handling, such as the temperatures and installing?

I would also suggest you get one card and see what happens, the GTX260 is quite a potent piece of kit and you can always SLI if it's too slow
I would however say that Jay2tall has the better options: Why get an already obsolete DX10 card for this brand new build when you can get a DX11 one? Yes the HD5870 is expensive but it's not far short of the GTX295 in performance and burns a good deal less power.

DX10 is NOT obsolete. Look at all the games that STILL aren't dx10? Call of Duty?????? I do assume Modern Warfare 2 will be though. But really, it will be a while till DX11 is out in full force, but for a NEW build, I'd go with a NEW card. If you were upgrading a current system.. with 1 260 already in it, that is totally different.

+1, but since you've already ordered that computer along with the GTX 260, I'll just wait for some prices to drop and pick up another GTX 260 when it gets to around $100 and below.

it too late to get a radeon card as i have already bought my comp from ebay which most ppl only offering nvidia cards. the comp all together including postage was £600 dunno what it is in dollars at the moment thanks for all the replies ill see what my comps like with just the one card
then maybe i'll get anouther 260 gtx card when they cheaper like skolpo says cheers

on a 40"lcd you are at a MAX resolution of 1920x1080 (if its 1080p). With a single GTX260 you will MAX COD4, be at about all high settings in Crysis, and not sure about Modern Warfare 2.
