This PSU is also going to power a DVD-RW drive, 2 7200 RPM HDDs and a PCIe SSD. I will also overclock the CPU and GPU as much as the thermals let me.

The VS and CX are "builder" PSU's good for like office builds and lower power PCs that don't spike and push hard (such as a gaming PC with a GPU).

If you go Corsair you want an AXi or RMx PSU. Or look for Seasonic, Superflower, EVGA, or XFX. Most 550w units from them will be great such as the EVGA 550 G2, the XFX TS 550, or Seasonic G-series 550

Not a very good PSU. its not 80+ certified. Its enough to fire up your system, but you can get a better EVGA 650w psu for the same price..I'd suggest you look for a 80+ Psu. If you cant find it then its okay to go with this.
