Hi, I am just building my computer here which will be mainly for gaming, I was actually planning to get the AMD FX 8350 with an MSI 99FXA gaming motherboard which is perfect for my tight budget, But 2 days ago I found out that it's not that good when it comes to gaming due to single core performance, and that the I5 6600K do much better performance and can increase my FPS by 5+. So I am really confused, should I stick to my AMD combo, or get the I5 6600K running on Z170 motherboard? cuz If I go intel then it's going to be a Skylake DDR4. What do you guys think?

System specs:

AMD:

AMD 8350 octa core
MSI 990FXA Gaming
16GB DDR3 memory 1600Mhz

Intel:

Intel Core I5 6600K
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
16GB DDR4 2666Mhz

Graphics: Radeon Sapphire Nitro R9 380 4GB. (1X)

Please tell me if the I5 is going to make that big difference in my gaming performance, because I am running low on my budget.

Solution
If you go with the 6600k don't forget a cooler (it doesn't come with one). Either a 212 evo or cryorig h7, they run around $25-35. If you opt for an i5 6500 it comes with a stock cooler. 16gb is a bit overkill for gaming, might save a bit of money there going with 8gb. Intel's do have stronger core performance and usually suffer less fps drops in most games where the min fps has a tendency to dip lower on amd cpu's. It may not mean 10fps + higher average fps but if it's 5-10fps higher minimum fps then stuttering won't be as bad and the game will play smoother.

Watched the comparison, just to the point, thank you for your help, I am going Skylake :)

Yes, that's right, my biggest concern was about the performance, anyways I was going to get a nice liquid cooling for my CPU, but was just wondering if it matters to go Intel, however I really like the new Skylake from intel, and the performance I am going to get, plus the DDR4 advantage, anyways the 8350 is kinda old CPU.

Thank you very much, I am going to stick with 8GB for now, as it will do perfect in all games, I just needed more ram for the overall performance, but that can be added later on. :)
