[SOLVED] is the msi b450 tomahawk compatabe with 3rd gen ryzen out of the box ?

i know its advertised as ryzen 3rd gen compatabe but will still need a bios update for it to be compatable (i dont have any older ryzen chips)

So long as it's the Tomahawk MAX, yes it is. That board was made specifically for Ryzen 3000.

Older non-MAX Tomahawks are not very likely to be .

No way to know, depends on when the board came off the assembly line. I would say it probably wont. However you can flash that boards BIOS without a CPU, link below. Personally I would just spring for a board that supports ryzen 3000 out of the box.
