Is the stock cooler/fan required for intel warranty?

I broke the fan in two by mistake when I tried to shove it in a box, do I need it for warranty or just the code from the fan or something like that? If I were to send it to the to repair it I'd only have the cpu box, cpu itself and a receipt from the computer shop I bought it from.

Do you mean needing the fan in case your CPU dies on you? So you can RMA your CPU?

If that's the case, then no, I wouldn't think so. I've RMA'd an APU before without the heatsink and I had no issues.

If you are going to RMA a processor do you need to return the stock HSF (heatsink/fan) with it? Not that I have heard of. The biggest key for getting technical support is that you are using products (i.e. like RAM) that meets the factory specs. Or that you have the Intel® Performance Tuning Plan that lets you overclock.
