I want a PC thats just as good as the next gen consoles.

I'm getting a build that has a 7870 GPU because I read that the PS4 will have a GPU thats in between the 7850 and 7870...

Now I'm looking for a CPU....can someone help me?

Here on the PS4 tech wiki it says ("The central processing unit (CPU) consists of two x86-64 quad-core (8 cores) modules[7] based on the upcoming Jaguar CPU architecture from AMD.")

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_4_technical_specifications

Also here on the Xbox1 page scroll down to hardware and it reads ("It is powered by an AMD "Jaguar" Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) with two quad-core modules totaling eight x86-64 cores clocked at 1.75 GHz")

Ohh...well ....sorry.

I'm still learning :)

@Sangeet Khatri

Just curious, you said earlier that just because a CPU has twice as many cores does not equal twice amount of power.

So I looked up the benchmarks of the FX4350 and FX8350, there both the same CPU except one has 4 cores and the other has 8 cores.

On cpubenchmark.net fx4350=5231 and fx8350=9078

Meaning the difference between the 2 is .735%

Do you think there is a similar performance increase in the jaguar models on the PS4?

Some pointers.

- Twice the cores does not equal twice the performance. Meanwhile, stronger cores will benefit both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads.
- While a computer has more overhead, don't forget that one core on both PS4 and Xbox One is reserved for the OS.
- Also lets not forget that the CPU in the consoles have to share memory with the GPU, while pretty much any discrete graphics card has its own memory.

I think console optimization is highly overrated. Surely there is a performance boost but it's nowhere as magical as people claim. The 8800gt still destroys current-gen consoles and thats a 2007 GPU. With 2014 around the corner, that will be 7 years. Also the whole thing of OSs is getting tiring. The PS4 and X1 use 3Gb or more for their OS.On my PC, when it's in idle, only 1.7-1.8Gb are used. To OP, Shadofall is only 60fps in the multiplayer and even then the framerate is usually between 40 and 50. The singleplayer is capped at 30fps. If you wanna future proof in the sense to beat the next-gen consoles, the FX8350 is waaaaaay more than enough.

@Sangreet

I can't see your signature. I looked around the forum site and it seems the size limit is 400x75 for sigs. Is your's bigger than that? I am interested in your build recommendations, but can't find them.

[edit] NM, I wasn't logged in. Sorry...
