I have been trying to adjust the settings on my monitor to make it look good but i cant set it right. There are too many options like brightness, gamma, contrast, sharpness and more. Is there a program to make it auto adjust? I am using Samsung Syncmaster 940BF and i checked the applications but they did not have anything to set it right.

NVIDIA has a small calibration utility in the drivers to help you out, the first screens it tries to get you to setup the display via the onscreen controls, while the last one gets you to setup the gamma in the colour profile. Its fairly simple. I believe ATI may have something similar as well.

Tried on the Nvidia control panel. I have Brightness, gamme and contrast and its just too hard to adjust all three bars to get the color right. Where is the auto thing on the control panel?

No it is not an application, it is an image to adjust the levels of your monitors. I have used many automatic apps in the past to set monitors and none was doing the trick for me.

I found this test image for photography, it is very effective to set the levels but it is only black and white.

It will not give you true colors but it is very good to set the contrast and brightness of your lcd.

There is a little application called Gamma Panel with which you can adust your minitor brightness/gamma and it will remember the settings you have made and you can return to default and reset with a click or two.

It's also free.

I use it for altering the files I send to Photobox for printing the print too dark if I use my default monitor setting.
