Hi, I am having an issue with framerates and quality for my system. Hopefully posting this in the right thread. My main games that I play are ark survival evolved, 7 days to die, Overwatch, Tabletop Simulator, PC simulator, Apex Legends, and a couple of others. I am not really able to maintain 60fps with my games they fluctuate anywhere between 40-60fps and sometimes will drop to 20-30fps.

My system (I will upgrade my components later just haven't really had the money for it so please be nice about my build and offer advice and not bash on me for my build.)

CPU: AMD FX-9590 (stock speeds)
Cooler: Thermaltake Extreme 3.0S
Ram: G-skill Ripjaws x DDR3 1600mhz
Graphics card: XFX GTS Black Core Edition RX580 8gb
Storage: 240gb kingston ssd and a 2tb 7200rpm hdd
Power Supply: 1000W EVGA G+ 80+ gold rated.
Case: Corsair 270R
Monitor: Dell E207WFP (Wanting to upgrade but this is what I got for now)

Of the games that I have been running I have been having to go with medium settings at best to not have tear or stutter or crash.

Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

Solution
The 580 is a pretty decent mid-range 1080P card, if you are going to be CPU-limited, might as well have it look pretty with ultra high detail at 1080P while doing so! (Part of being CPU limited is that lowering detail or res will not help much)

Why to bash you about you build? Not everyone is a spoiled brat in here.Have you tried to monitor your games with afterburner? You can see there whats holding you back.

You will never achieve high frame rate with that CPU as stated above the best you’re going to do is medium settings

Many People like to point out the flaws of the 9590 because of high power draw and a couple of other things.

I will do some bench marking with afterburner and post them soon. I have been thinking of upgrading but have no money to upgrade yet and also kind of waiting to see when the Ryzen 3000 desktop cpus come out and upgrade then.

Here is a benchmark I was able to do on 7 days to die running at medium and resolution at 1680x1050 on a 60hertz panel.

04-03-2019, 20:58:13 7daystodie.exe benchmark completed, 29744 frames rendered in 663.141 s
Average framerate : 44.8 FPS
Minimum framerate : 15.9 FPS
Maximum framerate : 60.2 FPS
1% low framerate : 18.5 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 2.6 FPS

CPU surrounding components require additional cooling.
With liquid cooling only cpu gets cooled (not vrms around cpu).

Here's how people are dealing with this problem:

Did you do anything with additional vrm cooling as suggested?

You can also try downlcocking your cpu to FX-8370 level - 4Ghz.

I switched the top 2 fans to intake so it is blowing air down through the cooler below.

I have not tried down clocking the cpu. Frankly I have not touched the overclocking on the cpu yet
