Question Is this a coil whine sound? and any way to fix it?

Hi there and please help. My psu has been producing weird sound when under heavy load recently.

I've been reading around about psu coil whine and is my psu producing the coil whine sound? It will only produce that sound when under heavy load.

And is there any way to fix it? will it affect my other components?

Hmm, it sounds more like a failed fan bearing to me. Is it under warranty ?

Its under warranty. But i dont think i can send it on my own as i'm outside of us country. My retail seller keeps on insisting its not faulty. Any way i can fix that?

Is this sound present only when under load ? As in if you pull the load, the sounds ceases immediately or continues for some time after ?

Its only present when gaming /stress testing under heavy load. If normal usage there's no sound present.

cooler master use real cheap fans in alot of their psus. wouldnt be surprised if they do in this one too even though its gold rated.

the only way you could fix this would be to open it up and change the fan but that is not recommended since it can kill you.
You could let a repair shop do that for you if they know what they are doing.

Its only present when gaming /stress testing under heavy load. If normal usage there's no sound present.

I'm talking about delay between when load ends and when noise ceases, it's important to determine if it's coil whine or bearing noise. If there's no delay then it's coil whine, if there is (like 5 seconds and more) then it's bearing noise. Fan controller is reacting to changes in the load slower thus it would maintain RPM for a bit even after there's no load anymore, whereas coil whine is direct cause of the load, if there's no load then there's no coil whine (or at least it would be much less apparent).
Now if it's a coil whine then you can't do anything about it as it's not a failure per se, you can only replace the PSU for a better one. But if it's a bearing noise that means that your fan is faulty, that's ground for warranty claim. What are your PC specs anyway ?

msi b350m arctic mortar
ryzen 5 2600
sapphire rx 5700 xt pulse
cyrorig c1 cooler for cpu
2 x 120 mm cooler fan
2 x 8gb ram 3200 MHz
1 hdd and 1 ssd

I'm thinking of selling this psu and buying a new one. Is Corsair RM750W Gold good? or do you have any recommendation?

It is (both of them, there are two versions actually). But maybe there's smth cheaper, where are you buying from ? And you don't need 750W for this build, 550W would be a plenty.

I see. I'm buying from Malaysia so it is hard to get RMA on certain brands as the service is not available. Would prefer to buy a good psu rather have to face this problem again.

i got corsair vengeance 650 , very quiet and good quality. budget options corsair cx 550 or be quiet system Power 9. better options corsair tx or rm series. Be quiet pure Power also a option.
