Hey guys!

I wanted to know whether a GTX1070 coupled with i5-6600K with a vs550 or GTX 970 4GB with i5-6600K but a HX750i is better?

Here is my build:

Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Mid Tower.
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
i5-6600K
8 GB 2133Mhz Ram
GTX 970
H100i Cpu cooler
HX750i

or with GTX 1070 and Vs550?

Keep in mind, I perhaps would upgrade the GTX 970 later on.. But for how long will 750W suffice?

Does my motherboard, asus Z170 pro gaming, leave enough room for expanding and upgrading in the future?

I am thinking of changing my ASUS Z170 Pro gaming motherboard, as I hear bad reviews regarding the ramg slots, supporting only upto 2133 Mhz, while their advertisement says up to 3400 Mhz.

So what do you think about this board from MSI:

MSI z170-A Gaming Pro Carbon.

AFAIK, it has no RAM issues, but I am still sceptical about that. ASUS has terrible support so that is a big minus. While their boards are very good, when it works. If it doesn't work, then they just leave you in the dark or something.

ive personal been the owner of quite a few MSI products and never had a problem with a single one but that's personal XP

I think I will change both my GPU and motherboard to MSI. so:

MSI GTX 1060 Gaming
MSI Z170 Gaming Pro Carbon.

Is that OK?

Sounds like a fantastic choice to me, ive only had experience with 2 MSI Z170 Gaming Pro Carbon builds so far but the clients seem to have no issue and the testing I done on them seems that they were very good boards. my GPU is also an MSI and ive used it for 3 years now without an issue.

Is the Motherboard good for overclocking? Overclocking the CPU? Can you install Quad-channel Ram 3400Mhz, without any issues?

I read some memory problems with the Gaming M7 board. I hope there is none on the Pro gaming carbon. Those Z170 boards seem to have RAM issues, or perhaps it is just me.

Do you know any good OC-motherboards? I read that ASUS Maximus, RANGER, HERO boards, etc. Are good OC-boards, but their support is terrible in case something fails.

yes you can, that board supports upto 3600Mhz ram but its never really worth looking at the Mhz of ram as you see very little difference in the Mhz on Ram its the timings on it that are more important. I feel that you are just reading horror stories of the Z170 motherboards lol, I have one and it works just fine no issues what so ever.

What RAM do you have? Can you post your specs? I guess it is a given that if I type in "MSI Z170A Gaming M5 problems" that problems will pop up.

And the most popular problem seems to be RAM.

Pretty nice. I hope I get a defect-free board and defect free components!

Hey again,

For memory compatibility, do I always have to check this website:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z170A-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#support-mem

Because some RAM are not listed there, your G.Skill Ripjaws V Series is listed there. The model number of your RAM is F4-2400C15D-16GVR. I checked. But say this memory:

HyperX Predator DDR4 3000MHz 16GB (Model number: HX430C15PB3K2/16) is not on the list. Does this mean that it is not supported, or that it may be supported but they have not put it on the list or updated it?

Do I really have to check the website for compatibility everytime? I am well aware that a RAM may work, although it is not mentioned in the support, or perhaps I am wrong.

I really want to avoid any RAM issues.

They most likely just don't have that RAM listed, if it isn't support which I highly doubt then you can just RMA it.

I want to know whether the PSU: EVGA 750W G2 is good enough for SLI 1080, i7-6700K, MSI Z170A MPower Titanium?

How good is it? Cuz I wanted to know, in case I upgrade in the future.
