Is this a good build?

Solution
It's possible to run dual-channel with 2x4GB and the other 4GB running by itself. So it would be 8GB in dual-channel +4GB. Kind of weird yes.

Why get optane if you can just get an ssd? Intel optane is just a slightly less worse sshd. Also why 12gb of ram. Either do 16 or8gb since you will lose dual channel ram and ryzen depends quite a bit on ram speed to perform well and losing dual channel hurts it quite a bit (easily 5%+ lost of cpu performance).

Also getting 2 separate kits of ram has no 100% guarantee of working togheter.

Otherwise good build.

You can use the Optane as an SSD if you are willing to deal with the space. And dual channel improvements is meager anyways.

I believe both cards are literally neck and neck, they both do slightly better in different game, but not really much of a difference, and also I prefer nvidia drivers and software.

Welp, up to you. The 480 is neck to neck, the 580's better everywhere. It's very close though.

Honestly, i'm just gonna wait until the beginning of 2018 for volta and zen 2 to come out and then build a new pc and for now just stick with my current PC https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8F3sd6

You can also just put an i7 + better gpu in your current pc and sell the parts you no longer use instead of going 100% new.
