Is this a good gaming computer?

I wanted to get a not to expensive gaming computer, so I decided to build one. These are the parts I intent to use:

-Intel core i5-2500k: $200
-GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3: $120
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler, RR-B10-212P-G1 $35
-DDR3 Kingston 4GB/1600 Mhz HyperX Genesis CL9 x2: $45
-Radeon HD 6870: $155
-Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 Sata 1TB 6GB/s $95
-ASUS DRW 24B3ST: $25
-OCZ ModXStream Pro Power Supply 600 watt: $70
-IN WIN BR665 Black SECC steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case $80

So it`s $825, which is probably going to be more because I want warranty. Now, is this a good computer build? And are there better pre-build computer for $800-$1000? I would like to know.

just change motherboard like asus p8z68 v-pro it's an expensive but gives you much better features and performance otherwise this is extremely good for gaming!

well, it would be great to play games like bf3 or stalker cop. I know it would be good then to have a ssd card, but I'm used to long loading times, so it's no problem

a 6870 will scream at that resolution. A single 6850 can max out Skyrim at 1920x1080 so i think you will be plenty fine But i agree with the above board, if you can afford it. Make sure to do your research on how it goes together!

No need to pay extra for the -v PRO unless you plan on getting a second graphics card. However this would also require spending a little more on a higher wattage PSU too (750w would be recommended for crossfire 6870's).

A P8Z68-v or -v LE would be perfectly fine for a single card set up.

As previously said, 6870 will be great for 1280x1024 resolution and should max almost all games with a good FPS

A 500w PSU would be plenty for a single card set up using 6870 GPU too, so you could save yourself a little there with a cheaper unit. Recommended brands include: XFX, SeaSonic, Corsair, Antec.

Motherboards tend to go up in price the more PCI x16 lanes they have.

If your considering an SLI set up, your going to want to be looking for a motherboard with x2 PCI x16 lanes.

However if you will only be using 1 graphics card, a motherboard with just 1 PCI x16 lane and another PCI lane (generally will be x4 or x8) will be cheaper than a board with x2 x16 lanes.

For a single graphics card set up, yes, the mobo listed in your OP would be fine. Just be aware its a Micro ATX motherboard, not a standard ATX.

Doesn't make any difference performance wise, but it does limit expansion (such as adding a second GPU).
