im building a new gaming pc with strict budget....so i can only go for any one of the following combinations..

i3 3220 + gtx 660 2GB or i5 3470 + hd 7770 1GB?????

which one is better for gaming??
i will be playing in 1920x1080 and modern games like bf3, farcry3 etc also upcoming games like tomb raider, splinter cell blacklist, crysis 3 etc
(i will be using this pc strictly for gaming or watching movies and nothing else.)
i just want to be able to play them at a minimum of 35 fps and also if necessary i dont mind pulling down to medium settings...
Here are my other specs:
G.Skill ripjaws 8GB RAM (2x4GB)
asus p8h77-m mobo
corsair carbide 200r case

hey, you choose same spec with mine 😀. But i only gaming in 1440x900 and my rig give me solid 60fps with very high settings. But in ultra sometimes the fps drop to 52. Some games like Hitman Absolution and...
i3 3220 + AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB is the best for your budget. The 7870 delivers better performance than the 660 at the same price. If you can find a 7870 GHz edition in your price range, get it over the stock 7870 for even more performance.

7870 better than 660 as long the price is not too expensive. Keep performance per price guide you :).

If you only use that rig for gaming, i3 will sufficient. But nowadays games can fully use 4 core to give better performance (i.e Far Cry 3).

thnk u all for ur opinions.....7870 is a little more pricier than the gtx 660...but if its gives considerable improvement in performance then i'll get that...... but wont the 7870 bottleneck my i3 3220???

anyway im not going for 7870 becos i dont got cash..told u b4 its a strict budget...im sure the gtx 660 wont bottleneck my i3 3220....i think i'll go with the gtx 660...last thing i want to confirm whether my pc will be able to play modern games like bf3, fc3 etc at 1080p in at least medium settings at minimum 35-40fps???????

660 is great choice too 😀. The difference is unnoticeable in stock speed (different if you OC 7870).

In medium setting? Of course 660 will do that 😉. In higher setting 660 will still do great job. As long you don't play Metro2033 with ultra in 1080p

welll....back to my problemm..
i managed to expand my budget get a quad core ( mainly for upcoming games like crysis 3 etc )
here are my new specs:
i5 3470
Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB GDDR5 GV-N660OC-2GD Graphics Card
G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM

will these be futureproof to atleast 2-3 yrs ??????????

should i go for a 450W or 500W psu???????

this rig is for gaming only.. also i dont want to do any overclocking.....will this rig help me to play crysis 3 at 1920x1080 at least medium settings????????

hey, you choose same spec with mine 😀. But i only gaming in 1440x900 and my rig give me solid 60fps with very high settings. But in ultra sometimes the fps drop to 52. Some games like Hitman Absolution and NFS Most Wanted 2012 give me hard time, don't know why but the fps too low to be true 🙁. Hitman Absolution give me 42-60 fps, and Most Wanted 2012 at solid 30fps  (looks like the game itself is the problem)
