If you were thinking of buying a new system anyway then go for it. I'll leave it up to you (obviously) to judge just how good a friend you have, but if he's upgrading from an X2 4200 then you have to ask a question about why he'd need an older P4.

You (in theory) can use a SuperDrive on a PC, as it's just a DVD±RW drive on an IDE interface.

But I'd say not to be lazy, and spend the 20mins it would take to swap them to find out.

yeah. The superdrive works like a charm. Didnt even have to reflash the firmware. Also, one more question. I have an older system, which has a P3 2.80 GHz oc to 3.45 GHz, and 1.0 GB RAM. I have a Visiontek 9550 128 MB AGP 8x vc. Would my card burn if I set it to .1 volt higher (because the BIOS supports it) for more OC? Thx.

Say what?
Is that a typo, cause there were never any P3s at that speed.
The original agp slots use a lot more voltage, so if you do have an old P3 mobo, we would need to know the make and model of the mobo.
If you ment P4 2.8, raising the agp volts by .1 wont hurt.

Card voltages (I think) are more sensitive than CPU, but .1v probably won't adversely affect it. If you're serious about overclocking your card, a non-standard heatsink/fan is a must.
