is this a upgrade or close to same perfprmance

Hello. well my z170 chipset mother board and intel i5-6600k took a hit and wont work any more ... so i need another mobo and cpu everything else i have is still fine i saw this add from a reputable seller and was wondering if this would be a upgrade or close to same performance ryzan r7-1700k + GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming for $229.98 i mostly just play WoW and tomb raider started messing with editing small video's for family stuff or is the r5-2600 better for performance it's $50.00 cheaper then the 1700x would like to hear all thoughts i am on disability so that is pretty much my budget tks all

It would be similar but I believe it is slightly better but if I for sure because I don't know how much ram or theclo co speed

Performance will be pretty much the same. Especially for your needs if all you're doing is gaming and small video editing. the 1700x technically has more cores, but the 2600 is more efficient and the second iteration of the architecture. but if its $50 cheaper than the 1700x its definitely worth getting the 2600. if the cost was like 10-20 more (same with the 2600x or the 2700(x) ) I'd say get those, but if the 2600 is such a good deal, just get that one.

I'd go for the 2600 myself. WoW is not very multithreaded and works better with faster cores than more cores.

for gaming the Ryzen chips are pretty close to what you had so you won't notice much difference. Ryzen likes fast RAM though so if you are planning on keeping what you have and it's DDR 4 2400 you might be better off with an i5 8400 if you can find that at the right price or even an i3 8350K
