Issue installing Windows 10 on new laptop HDD

So my laptop's HDD recently crapped out on me. Luckily I had a 500gb HDD from my old laptop sitting around, so I figured I'd just use that one and install a new copy of windows 10 on it, however I've run into some issues.

I've formatted the HDD, but when I try and select the partition to install windows, I get the error "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I've only formatted the HDD using the Windows Setup, do I need to use a 3rd party program to format it differently?

I've also read that changing the Sata Mode in the BIOS can fix this issue, however the only option for sata mode I have in the BIOS is RAID. I don't have AHCI or IDE as options.

Any help in fixing this issue is appreciated. I can provide pictures as well if needed.

I am curious if the reason you have raid is it also has an ssd in it? perhaps msata

Solid State Drives:
256GB/512GB PCIE Gen3X4 SSD (RAID0)
or did you choose just 1 hdd? As it shows them as well

Hard Drives:
1TB 5400RPM SATA HDD
1TB 7200RPM SATA HDD
2TB 5400RPM SATA HDD

often if its running raid it was probably running it with hdd/ssd in tandem and maybe using Intel Rapid Storage Technology software to manage the raid as a sort of cache to speed up hdd - http://www.pcworld.com/article/248828/how_to_setup_intel_smart_response_ssd_caching_technology.html

what make/model laptop is it? Have you looked on its web site to see if any FAQ about installing windows on it?

If you only have raid, its likely you need drivers to install at the stage you pick the drive.

does laptop also have a small SSD in it as that would help explain why its only got raid options

My laptop is a ASUS ROG G752VS.

I did a lot of digging last night and here's what I've come up with so far.

The stock drive that came with my laptop was configured on RAID. However, when looking at the physical disk info with my new hard drive installed, the status says Non-RAID, and the controller type says ACHI.

I was also able to find this:
"When raid is enabled to be able to load windows you have to do a custom install and load the IRST drivers during the install before you can see the drive."
I'm guessing that's what you were talking about when you said that I would likely need drivers to install. But honestly, I have no idea how to do that.

What I'm most confused about is that I've found posts from people with the same laptop, who have both RAID and AHCI options in SATA Configuration. I'm not getting why the only option that's showing for me is RAID.

Feel a little dumb for missing it, but the solution was pretty simple. Just needed to update my bios, then the option to set SATA configuration to AHCI instead of RAID was available. Was able to install Windows no problem after that
