my laptop's internal drive is failing, and i'm considering replacing it w/another one that's not quite the same. could anyone here tell me if i'll be looking at compatibility issues ?
current drive :
target drive :
so it looks like the replacement drive would actually require less power even though it's a mechanical drive and not a hybrid ssd. should i be concerned about the lack of native queuing ?
both drives are about the same size [the replacement drive is a little thinner].
so - am i good, or asking for trouble ?
are there other characteristics i should be looking at too ?
thanks.
current drive :
- 1tb sshd
- 5400rpm 6gb/s sata+ncq
- power draw 2.7w seek, 0.9w idle, startup = ?
target drive :
- 500gb hd
- 7200rpm 6gb/s sata [no ncq]
- power draw 1.8w seek, 0.65w idle, startup = 1.0amps
