Question Issues with NVIDIA custom resolution ?

Hi all,

I'm having issues with a new build, specifically with the game Overwatch. When alt tabbing out and back into the game I'm stuck on a black screen for a solid 3 seconds. I believe this is due to the way my Display Settings handles the refresh rate. Please see below screenshot of the refresh rate being just below 240hz.

I was originally able to get around this issue by using an overclocking feature within my Monitor to boost the refresh rate up to 270, but this has caused issues for my display so I'm looking for alternative options. I have tried to create a 250 hz and a 230 hz custom resolution via the Nvidia Control Panel but I am experiencing the same black screen issue on those custom resolutions. Below is a list of resolutions available, as you can see, many are not whole integers and these resolutions cause the issue. As a last resort, I will have to play on the 144hz option however I'd like to try all my options first.

I would like to create a 1920 x1080p 240hz custom resolution manually to set the display number to be a whole integer however every time I attempt to create this custom resolution I'm met with the below message.

If anyone is able to advise further on this or perhaps suggest a way to create another 240 Hz custom resolution I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What driver version are you on for Nvidia's Control Panel/your Nvidia GPU?

Make and model of your motherboard and it's BIOS version at this moment of time? What OS are you working with? Please include the version(not edition of the OS).

Moved thread from Apps and Software section to Graphics cards section.

GPU: RTX 5070 Ti
RAM: 2 x 32GB 6000Mhz DDR5
Disk C Storage: NVMe Smasung 990 PRO 1TB

You have a display that is capable of adaptive sync which means that it can change refresh rate 240 times in a single second.
Alt tabbing taking long has nothing to do with the refresh rate you are on.

I would try turning on dynamic refresh rate from windows (you show it in your first pic) just to rule it out.

You do have 32GB of RAM but if you have a bunch of web browser tabs and other stuff open while you game then you could still be running out of RAM and the few seconds would just be Windows loading in your background stuff from your disk.

Hey,

Tried dynamic refresh rate, same thing. This is a pretty known issue (at least within overwatch) when it comes to alt tabbing when resolution/refresh rate are not synced between the game and the monitor. Question is, how can I adjust this within windows.
