It's an upgrade worth the money?

Hey, I currently own:

A8-5500 Quad-core 3.2GHz (Turbo 3.7Ghz)
4GB DDR3 1Dim RAM

It works fine, four cores keep the my system fresh at all times.

Just wanted to know if there's enough difference for me to upgrade to A10-5800k 3.8Ghz (turbo 4.2)

Thanks

you'll see better graphic experience(more demanding games you can play) and faster rendering plus a possible upgrade (the new socket fm2)

but i recommend that you get a new build (fx4130 socket am3+ mobo) with better GPU ( ex. radeon HD 6770 or higher ) it'll be better experience and future proof

I will be ordering HD 7750 1GB; then wait for new releases this summer. Thanks man

The single best thing you can do is to get a second identical RAM module. Pretty well any modern CPU takes at least a moderate hit in not having both memory channels populated. That will be a much larger difference than upgrading to any CPU that will fit in your board.

I have for channels, up to 32GB RAM. I'm planning on getting 2x8GB DDR3, that will help right?

on the contrary , i had a8-3870k before w/8gigs of ram and i got a second build with the fx-4130 , 8gb RAM and gtx 570 .... frame by frame second by second on high settings (AA & MOTION BLUR ENABLED) AND RESOLUTION 1600x900 it handled demanding games (BF3, NFSTR AND METRO 2033) Beautifully much better than
a8-3870k w/HD 6670 crossfire on medium settings

it's your call but the VGA card is a good one and will perform better with am3+ based CPUs

That is not an apples to apples comparison. An A8-3870k with that same GTX 570 would be faster than a Bulldozer based FX in games. Any CPU within the past 3yrs with a GTX 570 will do better in games than an A8-3870k with a 6670. A 6670 is a low end GPU. The GTX 570 was near the high end for its generation and still a nice GPU.

how is that possible ?
first of all a8-3870k struggled when i got games on high settings (settings i mentioned) , while fx didn't
and also llano has 4mb cache 3.0 GHz while fx-4130 is 8mb cache 3.8 GHz
VGA i agree would eliminate any other but i'm talking about handling high settings while performing fast without lag

Games rely on GPU more than CPU. A GTX 570 > 6670 even when crossfired with a the APU's built in graphics. Bulldozer is slower than Phenom II. Why do you think Athlon II and Phenom II are still on the best gaming CPU's for the money and the Vishera based FX 4300 at least gets an honorable mention and Bulldozer gets not so much as a mention? Llano at its core is Ph II based in much the same way Trinitys are Piledriver based. I remember some benchmarks showing Athlon II X4 faster than Bulldozer quad. Bulldozer is a failure similar to that of the original Phenom. You specifically said the first system was a 3870k crossfired w/ the HD 6670. That graphics solution is still slower than a GTX 570. I would venture to say even a Core 2 quad would be faster with a GTX 570 than a Llano with a 6670.

Yes, although you will want to remove the existing 4 GB module to get the best performance if you add 2x8 GB modules.

The A8-3870K is a 3.0 GHz Stars part and is going to perform roughly like a Phenom II X4 940 or Athlon II X4 640. Bulldozer parts are modestly slower per clock but they are higher clocked and have more cores which helps with games. The last Tom's Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart reflects this as it puts the FX-8150 a tier above the A8-3870K.

While a clocked 8150 may pull ahead, we were talking about a 4130, which I doubt is capable of surpassing a Phenom II or Stars chip. I was initially interested in a 41xx series chip until I saw it getting its butt kicked by an Athlon II.

I am curious in what setup the guy who was running the Athlon II X4 and the FX-41xx had since the chips are generally thought to be fairly close in performance in games (see the Tom's Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart for more details.)

do you know that what you said made me rearrange my builds over night to test them ... i mean uninstall drivers and take out VGA CARDS then re-installing them with drivers , INSAAAAAAANE

and the outcome- i must say - was validating what you said
A8-3870K w/GTX570 handled BF3, NFSTR, METRO 2033 and RECENTLY released FAR CRY 3 on high settings SUPERBLY ,,, better than FX-4130 did
that said ... i wouldn't keep this build for gaming so i will sell my AM3+ mobo and CPU and get a socket 1155 mobo w/core i5 3570k and pair it with the super GTX 570
i just wanted to thank you man , hope to meet next time in another thread :) :) :)
