I played SimCity 4 for years, and was hooked on SimCity 3000 before that. Needless to say, if EA/Maxis gets the balance of depth and ease of play right, then they have a potential blockbuster here.

One thing that really sucks for maxis since I'd love to support them, is that I will be pirating this game due to a no-exceptions no-origin policy...I would gladly pay 59.99 through steam or for a boxed no-origin copy at retail

I have bought and played ever Sim City since the original and with each version I hate the game more. More over, EA's support and DRM issues make me want to "NOT" buy any more of their games.

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]they are making it for the PC because the old consoles can't handle it ....got to love it[/citation] Why not the PS1 had simcity 2000. I'm sure they could make it for consoles maybe not on the Wii but ps3 for sure and maybe Xbox the graphics quality would be lower, but at least it would be available consoles.

If it is Sim City as in building, natural disasters, cool buildings.... Social crap attached, who cares? Not me. Just make a good sim city experience. And dont jack it up.

The original Sim City, and the ones that followed, were always a good bit of fun. In fact, Sim City was one of my first PC games, so maybe it just has a little nastalga with me.

I'll be checking out the new one when it launches. I'm also liking the multiplayer idea (could be interesting imo).

As for Origin VS Steam; whatever. Both work nearly the same way when it comes to downloading games. I like steam's social aspects better then origin (I love the friends list, chatting, joining friend's games through the friends list, etc), but Origin works too, and it's not like you have to turn off steam to use origin. Just use Origin to DL the game and keep steam open to chat with friends and such. It's not the huge deal that everyone tries to make it out to be.

What is there to prevent people from just making a ton of messed up, polluting, crime ridden cities and ruining the sim city multiplayer world?

everyone bitching about origin is probably 12. It is no more invasive than steam. Never had problems with games working like I have with steam. Steam has caused more headaches than any program on my computer.

I still play SC3000 regularly, and recently began playing Anno2070. I really dislike all the DRM/online reqs, etc. games are all coming out with now . . .but SimCity is worth every annoying frustration, tbh.

Traffic stimulation with Network Addon Mod (significantly increases realism and adds tons of additional traffic network structures and etc). SC4 will bring down even a 5+ GHz i5 2500k processor with three of its cores turned off for higher clock rate. On a console, it would be annoying to wait for about an hour for one Sim year to pass by.

U pathetic EA/Maxis, thats freaking 7+yrs for me to wait a next real simcity. This one better be good one, and not another simcity society

IMO, MMO on simcity is a bad idea, How about making the 5th Simcity zoom-in playable like GTA-IV? I'll like to be able to drive and walk on the street I just build.

GTA-IV plus a modernized version of SC4=...

Epic...

Stopped reading at multiplayer. Another developer trying to cop out on good AI programming by forcing me to play with idiots that I'm trying to get away from in the first place by playing computer games.

social element. doesn't sound good. every freakin game comes with social crap now. still will be waiting for it. about time a new simcity comes.

they've made it MMO to ensure that nobody pirates it. which they still will. I will, because it's origin. and i poop on origin. Steam or GTFO! (ask Skyrim how well it works).

So it's a bigass Farmville? I had so much fun playing the original Sim City on the SNES back then. I'm not sure about the MMO aspect. Sure, I'd like to be able to visit my friends' cities, but do I have to cooperate or compete with them? Can't I just do stuff on my own? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it until the release.
