The MB is not shorting out to the case because i removed the motherboard from the case. Actually all components are outside of the case.

Update: I've installed the new RM650X Corsair CPU and still have the exact same problem. Fans spin for a brief second, it sounds like it's trying to start and then the fans stop.

So to sum it up, i have replaced the motherboard, RAM, and the psu but still have the same problems. What's left?

GPU installed = Same problem
GPU uninstalled = Same problem
HDD installed = Same problem
HDD uninstalled = Same problem

GPU + HDD installed = Same problem
GPU + HDD uninstalled = Same problem

I've replaced the MB, RAM, and PSU and still have the same problem.

I was concerned the CPU was bad due to the original bent prongs on the MB, but i could never find an answer to the likelihood of a CPU going bad.

i didn't bend the pins. when the system was delivered the pins were bent. the person who delivered the computer claimed that it originally worked but then stopped turning on. I'm down to two components. The heatsink and the cpu. I'm waiting on delivery of the original heatsink which i will test, and if it fails then only the cpu is left as potentially problematic.

oh . I see 2ed hand and bad when you got it ?? man no telling what went on then but likeyou said you all ready replaced everything but the cpu ?

maybe the cooler at fault but ???? I seen if its one that has the support backplate thing or the insulator pad it could be put on incorrect and short the board like this if touching a trace or solder spot ??

by the time your done screwing with this you could of just bought a all new build out of there boxes [I know the feeling ]

like from this cooler part ''E'' and ''J'' [back plate and pads]

yes the cooler does have a back plate. That's why before she buys a new cpu i want to test out the stock cooler. Very strange though because she had a bad motherboard, a bad power supply, wrong ram and now potentially a bad cpu/heatsink connection. Very strange to have 4 problems at the same time.

hard to say? could of been the cpu the whole time ?? you changed out the chip for the rma board and re installed the cpu cooler so you [I guess] should of see if there was a issue there with it ??

what cooler is on it now and did you look up the manual to see if it was correct or installed right I recall one guy put the backplate on upside down / backwards before also if it one you got to ''feel'' how tight or loose it is as you mount it one too tight can warp the socket area and cause a issue as well ??

anyway you pretty much down to the wire on parts to be at fault

cpu + psu + mb + 1 stick of ram + stock cooler - case = same problem

cpu + psu + mb + 1 stick of ram + stock cooler + case = same problem

cpu + psu + mb + stock cooler - ram - case = same problem

cpu + psu + mb + stock cooler + case - ram = same problem

I assume them boards shipped with the correct bios on them to support the i7 6600 chip out of the box ??

[Version 0403 ] -------------------------------------------------- -- bios
Core i7-6700 (3.4GHz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, GT2, 65W, rev.R0) ALL ''0403''
Core i7-6700K (4.0GHz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, GT2, 91W, rev.R0) ALL ''0403''
Core i7-6700T (2.8GHz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, GT2, 35W, rev.R0) ALL ''0403''

I see there were 2 lesser bios on the asus that maybe not support it [don't know ] ????

I guess you could buy a chep skylake chip that's supported under ''ALL'' the listed bios ??

asus list bios for the board but the bios that are listed don't show in the cpu support list like the 2 - 0224 and that 0303 ?? so they left that a mystery I guess ??

don't know maybe risk a cheap skylake 60 buck chip to test with ???

ya, cause the cpu is not supported personally I never ran in to having a unsupported cpu and board I just buy the best cpu that's supported under all the listed bios's , but asus kinda left that a guess cause they list 2 early bios's that don't match up with anything in the board cpu list

some where on the board or on the box it came in should state the shipped bios on it ? if not that's another sad thing with asus , my asrocks have a sticker on each bios chip stating the bios that's on them from the factory so theres no guessing or mistakes there with them ???

I see the problem with the MSI board, along with the bent prongs on the board was a combination for disaster. As for the Asus board i'm confused. Doesn't the asus link you gave me show that it does support the i7 6700?

yes it does under bios 0403 but like I was saying what if some how or reason the board you got came to you with bios 0224 or 0303 ?

you see how asus left that open causr them 2 bios according to the cpu list support nothing ?? just don't know I guess that's something you would have to ask asus on why is that

dude I don't know unless you get a chip to try and see if it still don't do anything or the same as the first one I'm stumped but if it does work and all then you know to send it back to intel for some satisfaction

only other thing I could guess is the chip is instantly over heating that would cause a issue as this but I assume between the 2 cpu coolers you used / tried were mounted correctly and proper thermal paste ??

out side of that seems like you covered a lot [new board /memory / with card with out card / psu ] whats left ???
