okay answer me this, if you can. If the girl who owned this computer had installed the i7 6700 in the old msi b150 motherboard could it have damaged the cpu? Per MSI's link you gave me it doesn't support i7, so could the wrong cpu in a motherboard damage the cpu itself?

The bent pins could have fried the CPU. The fact it doesn't support it means it just wouldn't work (or work right) but bent pins, that could do it.

BTW if there were bent pins and as was mentioned the MSI B150 doesn't support the CPU, that PC likely never, ever worked in the first place.

that's why her story didn't make much sense to begin with. I took pictures of the bent pins on the board for my own records and i found it hard to believe that the system worked one day and then stopped working the next with this kind of problem.

What got me confused is that after replacing the power supply, the motherboard, the ram, and removing the case, hard drive, case fans, gpu, and swapping the after market hyper 212 evo cpu cooler with the stock cooler the same results (non posting, no beeps) keep occurring.

It's good to know that bent pins could have damaged the cpu. There were at least 10 pins that were heavily bent to the naked eye.

Sometimes a PC will boot up and work though not "correctly" with bent pins, however bend the wrong pins and you short the CPU out, and very well could burn it.

In this case it never would have booted at all because of the non support of the CPU, and the bent pins put an end to it and icing on the cake. 10 pins is really bad.

Update as of 7/22/2016.

Once i replaced the CPU the PC posted correctly and i was able to finish the install. This problem was unique as it had 4 different issues; a damaged CPU and motherboard along with the incorrect RAM and a failing PSU.

Thank you to everyone who helped in solving this problem.
